The Bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki The bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki was a devastating event for the Japanese people. Although WW2 was coming to an end, they would not back down. This led to America dropping the atomic bomb onto them. Many innocent lives were lost during the bombing and the damage to the two cities was severe. The aftermath followed the Japanese even years after. Some people considered this act to be â€Å"justified†. Many lives were taken that day in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. â€Å"On August 6, 1945, an atomic bomb carried from Tinian Island in the Marianas in a specially equipped B-29 was dropped on Hiroshima, at the southern end of Honshu: the combined heat and blast pulverized everything in the explosion’s immediate vicinity, generated fires that burned almost 4.4 square miles completely out, and immediately killed some 70,000 people (the death toll passed 100,000 by the end of the year).
